Extracts
from "The alluring power of performance"
- In leading a worship set people will know
if I am driven by a spirit of selfpromoting performance
- I want to impart a spirit of worship
when I lead
- Musicians should pursue excellence in their
performance BUT never let musical presentation take precedence
over the heart of worship
- If I jealously guard the jewel of worship,
the music isn't a distraction
- Having a feel good experience isn't the
main goal
- Worship (leading) is all about making Jesus
look good; it's about His name and His reputation
- Greek word in the Bible - LATREURN- meaning
to worship, also means to serve
- Greek word DOULEURN- describes our bond-service
to God. This word talks of "total dependence and obedience
without any right of personal choice". When we feel
unfairly treated we don't really have any rights; servants
exist for the benefit of others.
- When we accept ourselves for what we are
we decrease our hunger for power or the acceptance of others.
We no longer fear criticism because we accept the reality
of our human limitations.
